What is Mizuhiki?
Mizuhiki (水引) is a traditional Japanese art form that involves creating decorative knots using tightly wound paper cords. These cords are often stiffened with glue or starch to hold their shape. Mizuhiki is commonly used for embellishing gifts, envelopes (such as those used for wedding or condolence money), and decorations for special occasions.
Popular Mizuhiki knot designs include:
-
Awaji Musubi (あわじ結び): A simple, versatile knot symbolizing strong connections and eternity.
-
Ume Musubi (梅結び): A plum blossom-shaped knot representing good fortune and happiness.
Recycled Paper Basket
An EcoCraft basket usually refers to a basket made with EcoCraft paper — a strong, eco-friendly paper ribbon that's specially designed for weaving. 🌿 It’s made from recycled paper pulp but processed to be durable, flexible, and often water-resistant.
Techniques for making an EcoCraft basket are very similar to traditional reed or rattan basket weaving:
If it accidentally gets wet, there’s no problem as long as you dry it thoroughly in the shade before using it again.!
